Better late than Never!

Hello to All and apologies for the late update. I did have a race last Sunday, the St Patrick’s Day 10Km and it was an adventure to say the least. We had 10Km straight of ice, essentially it was a balance contest not a race. J
I did manage a fairly good time of about 1 hr and 25 min which I am thrilled with considering the conditions.
To give you all an idea of just how icy it really was… there were approximately 800 participants and over 50 broken bones!

Next race is a 5KM on the 9th!
Until next time…J

The Hypothermic Half Marathon (I did about half = 11 KM)

For those of you who may not be aware...the weather  in Edmonton yesterday (Feb 27th) was less than ideal for a race... it was snowing -12, add a wind of 28 km/hr and it felt like -20... a bit chilly!

Even with all the elements against us (quite literally in the wind dept) we had a blast! (we being my awesome trainer and myself) We did the 11 KM run in 1hr and 37 min in some pretty crazy conditions. The fresh snow on the ground made it feel like we were running in sand and the wind was a beast all of it's own. It took about 4 KM for me to find my rhythm (I'm told this will happen quicker the more I run - fingers crossed!) and then we settled in for the remaining 7KM.

The finish was awesome we crossed with a sprint for the last couple hundred yards and a few tears escaped as we crossed, it was a VERY proud moment and I was amazed at what I had accomplished!

Here we are the day after and my body is still wondering what the heck happened I am not feeling like myself but yes it was worth it. I am walking...well waddling like I just got back from horseback riding for a week and I am feeling muscles I had no idea existed before today! I am so looking forward to my massage tonight!

Thanks for reading and I will be back soon with an update on Training and what is coming up soon.

Lots of Love!

My First Post

Hello to all!

It has been suggested to me on more than one occasion from many individuals that we have a busy life and that it is hard to always know what is happening in said life. I say... how flattering that you want to know what is going on in our lives! so here it is, the Scott and Sarah Wever family Blog. A way for us (mainly me) to keep those who wish in the know! This is a place you can feel free to visit as often as you like, or never that is the beauty of it, you make to call and I will do my best to keep it interesting although the 2 dogs and my lovely husband generally take care of the "keep life interesting" responsibility.

Where to start...
Well to fully understand where I/We are at you should have a bit of background information. I have always hated running and at the beginning of this year i realized that i let the fact that running was difficult for me dictate a decision that i couldn't run and in fact hated running because I couldn't do it. This led to an epiphany of sorts which outlined that I couldn't run because I had never pushed past it being difficult and actually put in a solid effort. This all being realized I decided to make 2011 the year of running! I have many many raced booked this year and i am planning to end the year with a full marathon in Vegas in December!

I will keep this blog updated with upcoming races, race results, pictures and sponsoring information.

Thanks to you all in advance for your support!
